Hi, ignore the Afterdawn Addict status, I am a complete n00b to the PS3 so feel free to treat me as such.

I have aquired a PS3 with a faulty Blueray drive the drive wont take in a disks. I have opened the PS3 and looked at the drive and it all seems attached OK. Has anyone got any ideas on how do I fix this problem?

I know that the drive is matched to the motherboard, so I would have to swap the PCB out to a new drive but what if there is a problem with the PCB on the drive, what are my options then?

I belive it if I were to jailbreak it, I would still need the disk in to play so thats out of the window (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Hi Miketrev,

you helped me on 360's in the past so i will try to return the favour.

If the teeth are worn on the drive its gonna keep doing what you have follow this link below to strip and reset the mechanism.
