Ok my brain is killing me on how to get my backups on my external HDD to work and then Ive looked all over the forums for help and everything and I'm still confused. I got a ps3break v1.1 and I got backup manager and when I open it i see the games and when i chose one it just stays on a black screen and freezes. I'm confused about the whole hermes thing..how do you install it? do I even need it since I got the ps3break? can someone plzzzzzzzzzzzz give me a step by step guide on how to get my backups to play?

Most games do not work from the external, almost none of the patches do. Try out open manager...it has better support.

check out that list,,it will tell you how to install the game,,either internal or external,,some games dont work with the external drive because there are files bigger then 4gig,,and you cant install them because your external drive is fat32 format,,those games can be installed internally and will work fine,,

Is this game Tomb Raider by chance, because that one will do what you mentioned, black screen a freeze.
go check compatibility list. TR cant be played at the moment, on ext or int.

says it works.
hmm, did you install the latest open manager 1.7.1 ?
I know its confusing since they have a new 1 every week it seems.
if you have ps3break v 1.1 than all you should need to do is
install the open manager, then connect your ext drive
with games already on it, in the GAMEZ folder then click
the game you see to boot. a option for loading on the xmb or direct is usually given with the new OM, but if your having probs maybe just do it the old fashion way.
and 1.1 should be without a disc in the drive too.
try it with a disc and then load back to the xmb to make sure.
ext drive.
x:/GAMEZ/xxxx <- game folder.
make sure folder is in caps.
if this is the only game you have tried then
try another it could be a bad rip you got.
goodluck

You may make sure the game's capacity is less than the 4GB.
