I bought a 250Gb HD for my 360. I connected it to the front USB ports on my xbox 360 and i guess it re-formatted the HD to 16Gb. Now, it won't show up as 250Gb.
How do I get the 250Gb HD back to a 250Gb capacity?

If windows won't do it, a third party program like "SwissKnife" will do it. Keep in mind when you re-format it, you'll end up with about 232GB, which is normal.
The 360's format option is so that you can format a USB HDD or USB Flash Drive (up to 16GB) to be used for storage (game installs, game saves, DLC, profiles, etc.) Anything bigger than 16GB is lost.
your xbox 360 did nothing wrong. You connected the 250gb to the system via the usb, which made the 360 think it was a flash drive... so it formatted it and is using 16gb of it which is the limit that microsoft sets to be able to be used by a flash drive.

alligot is exactly right here.
You could look for a HDD case from ebay or something, and try to install the 250GB drive into that providing its a 2.5" drive you have.. but even then, I think the drive has to be a specific brand or type... (i don't know if this has changed or not), but again, you would need a laptop type hard drive (2.5" sata), and the case to put it in, then you could just plug it into the normal xbox 360 spot on top of the console.

Yep it has to be Western Digital BEVS/BEVT drive for it to work in a 360 hard drive enclosure.
