update required to make PSN account...3.40

long story short netflix released an app that you need to download through PSN when i go to create an account it say i have to update my software most likely to 3.50. i dont want to do that for jailbreak reasons, what are the alternatives?

You probably do not have one. The Netflix app is part of the update so if you want to watch Netflix on your TV through the PS3 you probably don't have a choice but to update.

No not yet. We cannot be certain of what the future holds, since you can go onto psn with a hacked psp, if cfw is made for the ps3 then the same may happen. The problem is when, it definately wont be happening in the next couple of month, probably not even in 6 months.

So this leave you with either the jailbreak or online gaming, you cannot have both atm.

There is one way around the problem, but it requires a current firmware PS3 (it does not have to be your PS3). All they have to do is to use PS3prox while they download the app...you copy the link and then you can download it to the PC. I'm not sure if it will even install on the PS3 given that it is designed for firmware 3.50...but it is worth a shot.
