i bought a used 360 arcade with a bunch games (not originals) i decided to try and burn games myself , this what i did :
used abgx 360 and everything was green (i didnt care though my 360 is banned)
burned using imgburn at 2.4x on a lite on SHW-160h6s on a sony DVD+RDL made in india disc
i put the layer break and change the book type to DVD-ROM but when i put it in my 360 i get a
(open trey or unreadable disc error)
whats confusing is the the games i burned worked flawlessly on my friends 360 arcade the games i buy from shops (piracy is legal here) all work .
the question is the problem with my 360 or did i burn wrong ?
my 360's drive a samsung i think . dont know what firmware .
it's probably old firmware that is unable to read the games due to them being a newer wave (4, 5, or 6 mostly). Try burning an older game that came out a while ago and see how that works.
re-flash using the latest firmware.... sammy's are pretty easy to flash. I am by NO means an expert on flashing compared to some of the few on here... but I didn't have any problems flashing a samsung drive.

its not the firmware since i bought castlevania and it worked .
the games i buy are all on TDK discs so im going to try using the same brand and see if it works .
I think it can't be "Open Tray" or "Unreadable Disc" if it's firmware problem... it would be "Play DVD"...try not to change the DVD Book Type, set it to automatic if it's possible. I never change it and all my games work... (except for GH WoR, but I asked it here what's the problem :D)
I have a similar problem. The copies I got from the store work, but not the ones I burn. The game freezes after the intro video, or somewhere in the Menu. Tried 2 games, on 2 different types of media (imation and TDK).
I used imgburn, did the layerbreak, got no burn errors. The media I used were 8x but my Liteon drive is 4x. It's a SOHW-1673S. Somehow, imgburn always defaults to 2.4x, does not burn at 4x?? Any ideas why? Maybe that would help?
The only Verbatims I could located were MII, so I did not take a chance. They were only available in a pack of 10.
Any ideas why my imgburn defaults to 2.4x and does not write at 4x?
