80gb system with disc drive problems

Got the system cheap, it just wont accept a disc. The light is on indicating a disc in the drive althoigh the seller says otherwise. The eject button does nothing. Everything else works perfectly and ill use it as a media player if nothing else.

Can i have a replacment drive installed?? Im not paying sony the $200 theyd want to fix it but not sure i trust local shops either. Its an 80gb, these seem to be the most common of the broken systems for sale..
