Everything else about the my 360 is working. It works with everything but the DVD Drive hooked up. The DVD drive does nothing when I press the open button if its hooked up the 360 goes straight into E65.

I have a flashed BenQ(no its not a bad flash. It worked fine until I reapplied that Red Ring fix to the GPU last night.) I also have an old hitachi from a much older 360. I want to know what is causing the problem so I can replace the parts in the Benq with my Hitachi. The Hitachi drive still worked fine when my older 360 went kaput but I do not know how to flash the 360 to read it so that could also be done if someone knows and easy way to do it.

I'm hoping to take the parts from the Hitachi drive and replace anything that may not be working in the BenQ or even just fix the BenQ as it is. Does anyone know how to go about this.

hmm...

I have seen bad pcb boards cause this issue. Spoof to a drive you know that works

How exactly do I spoof it? I do have the orignal firmware for the BenQ like I said but I'm don't think that can simply be flashed to the Hitachi drive. I need an in depth description of how spoof it if I am to do so.

Though I would rather just fix the Benq drive since the particular custom firmware on it, the one that plays all games without stealth, can't be put on the Hitachi.

hmm...

I'm want to see if the drive can be fixed before doing anything like that. There is no visible damage to the drive so it is likely a single thing that is causing it not to respond. If I can find that part then I can either fix it or replace with ease.

I know how to flash the drives of course but I haven't found any information about the compatibility. I don't won't to flash my BENQ onto my Hitachi and end up with 2 bricks.

Does anyone know what could have caused this? A simple range of parts that could cause this to occur under the given circumstances would be nice.

This is the exact problem I'm having.

this, something messed up in the flashing process, which is common for the hitachi. Follow the Jungleflasher tutorial to the letter

The flash is fine. The problem is that the drive doesn't seem to be responding. From what I can tell it is a hardware malfunction. I need help figuring out what piece of hardware could have caused that problem under the given circumstances. It likely occurred while I was plugging the drive in and and unplugging it repeatedly to test if board was experiencing a short or some other error during the gpu fix.

I need to know what piece of hardware within the DVD drive is malfunctioning so I can' replace it with the same part from the other drive or ,if possible, simply fix that part. I've read that this can be caused by the magnet, by the motor and by dust but I don't know any of the specifics of how it acts in each situation. The problem for mine is exactly as it is int eh video. It goes directly to the E 65 without even touching the bios and when I unplug the drive everything works just fine. Which one of those problems is likely the cause?

hmm...

The BenQ is one of the most reliable drives that is made for the 360. I would spoof the hitachi info to the benq and use it. It's really hard to brick a benq unless you plug the power in backwards (very hard to do). Hitachi drives are crap for the most part.

You seem to have misread what I wrote. The BenQ drive is the one that is not responding and the one that actually goes to the 360. The Hitachi drive is the one that is working from my older 360.

You must have misread mine. You either have a bad flash or bad pcb board. Try and reflash again. If that doesn't work, time for a new drive. This is also very common if you aren't using an xtractor. Most people that power with the 360 accidently recyle the power by pulling the power cable and plugging it back in. When in a hurry, they plug the power in up side down, which will fry the pcb.

No, you definately misread me because you keep talking about the flash. The flash is fine. It was flashed last year. It worked just fine up until a few days ago when it stopped responding after doing the red ring fix. It can not be reflashed for it is not responding . It does not open or anything. Did you look at the video? That is what is happening to my 360.

I'm trying to figure out what part is causing it not to respond so I can replace that part. I do not want to open it and mess around with things without knowing what I'm looking for and potentially damage the drive beyond repair. What is a pcb board and how can I check if it damaged? Also, could I replace it with the one in my old Hitachi?

hmm...

I guess I need to spell it out for you. PCB OR BAD FLASH. E65 is one or the other. If the damn thing doesn't eject, then there you go. If you don't want answers, then don't post. I gave you the bleeping answer and you don't like it for some unknown reason. By spoofing to another drive will prove I am correct.

What the heck? I asked for how to fix it. I only asked for what could have caused it as a means of narrowing down what I need to fix. You're giving answers but I don't know what they're too because they do not answer the questions I have been asking. Knowing that is may be one thing or the other does not tell me "how" to fix it.

I'm primarly trying to "FIX" this drive without spoofing or rewriting anything. I don't have the oringal Hitachi firmware anymore so spoofing it would be a one way street, and if anything goes wrong there would be no way to recover it. The only information I needed in regards to spoofing was if I could use custom BenQ firmware on the Hitachi without it bricking the drive since they are two different. I could find the rest out on my own but you didn't answer that.

If the flash and/or pcb board are the problems then I need to know the available means of fixing those problems on the drive. I asked if I could simply swap the pcb board with a working one but you didn't answer that either.

I want answers but I want them to what I'm actually asking. Why are you so hell bent on spoofing the drive? I only intend to do that as a last resort.

if you have the key from the original benq drive then you can fix that drive by replacing the PCB and updating the firmware and applying the old key to it.

How do I go about replacing the pcb board? Can I use the one from my Hitachi or do I need to order one?

seriously u cant use a hitachi board on a benq ,just order a benq drive and flash it with your key and problem solved, some pcb board swaps can still give you that error

I see, thanks. Though what about, flashing the Hitachi with the benq custom firmware. Could that work?

Does anyone know if I can flash it? I want to use a non-stealth firmware but there isn't any made specifically for the Hitachi to my knowledge. Is it possible to put one of the non-stealth Benq custom firmwares on my Hitachi?

I would love to but I don't have the money to buy a new drive at the moment so I have to make do with what I have and an unresponsive Benq with its key and and an old Hitachi with no original key are what I have.
