RAM EXECUTE COMMAND FAILED ON HITACHI 79

Hi again
I?m back after a period of reflection. I have now given up on Vista and installed XP as a dual boot. I then proceeded to do everything by the book:
Installed PCI card and drivers.
Disabled card
Deleted drivers
Re-enabled card so that I get the yellow sign
Used Ck3 to power my Hitachi 79
Got it into mode B easily
Put the audio unlock CD in, waited????..
Reading, ejecting..
FAILED TO EXECUTE RAM COMMAND!!
Should have said that card installed as 3249 even in XP. Before anyone suggests this as the cause the JF tut even refers to 6421 cards being installed as 3249 with 550b drivers or above (page 152/180).
Someone will probably suggest there?s some sort of compatibility issue and XP dual boot is not as reliable as XP alone!!
I would be grateful for any advice in these circumstances.

You should have the drivers disabled anyway. Seems you have had a lot of issues with this card. I'd pick up the proper 6421 via card and send that one back

Drivers were disabled as stated. Card is fine and has 6421 all over it as stated. Tut refers to 3249 being installed "with newer drivers".
Guess I'll just have to google all the RAM Execute Command Failed hits and try each one!!

I myself never had any issues with the via drivers installed for a hitachi. Lite-on's are another story. Try with the drivers enabled. Just an idea... Hopefully it works for you.

that unlock cd can be a major pain in the ass, you need to reboot everything start jungle flasher and then put the disc in, be patient it takes about 30 seconds sometimes to work, i spent 3 hours one day trying to get one to work and i have no idea what i did different the last time but something clicked right and it went into mode b.

Hi all
Me again with more tales of woe in relation to flashing Hitachi 79. I stated the weekend optimistic based on generous advice given on this board and others about drivers for PCI-SATA, overcoming 3249 problem and possible use off onboard SATA. However, I end the weekend thinking that I?m cursed.
I initially tried using CK3 in XP. Unfortunately for the first time ever it didn?t light up properly and there was a very brief blinking of the LED when I switched it on. Needless to say I couldn?t use it to eject tray etc.
Plan B was to use my xbox but again, for the first time ever I couldn?t eject the tray using the ejector at the front of the xbox. I then disconnected the SATA from the drive to the PC and just reconnected the internal drive SATA and still couldn?t eject it!!
Am I utterly doomed or is there something obvious I?ve overlooked yet again? I can?t believe the CK3 is blown as I?ve only had it 5 minutes and have always connected properly to molex etc etc. Where I?ve had problems before it?s been getting the unlock CD to work not getting the CK3 to work and as far as the tray being jammed shut well that just about takes the biscuit.
Hope I?ve provided some entertainment but there is a serious side. My son?s birthday is Dec 13 and clock ticks ever faster!!
Just to be clear I previously had no probs getting the drive into mode B it was just getting the audio unlock CD to unlock it!

Now you really confuse me. Other than the caps lock to which was a typo I have never ever ever ever not recognised information and advice. I have also been as explict and clear as possible. If you look at earlier threads you will know how much info I've provided and the continuity etc.

Many thanks-Much more constructive response. I will go through the guide but was naively hoping that someone would advise on the sudden failure of the CK3 and the jammed tray in the Hitachi 79. Hopefully yhis guide will address these issues.

try reinstalling the via card. for another guy on a different forum that worked
also another guy got it to work this way

glad i got it going tho!
beacuse he thought the audio cd skipped past the data too quickly, and bout the probe, if its dead sorry fella i think its dead for good

Finally got audio unlock to work and spoofed Hitachi to Benq. Benq works fine but have probs with Hitachi (please see later post-Spoofing works to a point).
Would be grateful for advice on this aspect.

Huh? If the benQ is working why would you use the hitachi? Hitachi's are by far the worst drives ever put in a 360. Throw it away if you got it to spoof.

and just outta curosity how did you get it to work? i like to know just incase i run into this problem since i mod quite a few 360s

If you mean the unlock CD God knows! I just set it all up with external SATA that had given me all the probs, sent mode b and first time got the same RAM Execute Command Failed etc. Second time it worked and the rest was easy.
In relation to why I want to keep the Hitach I thought I could keep that one for xbox Live that's whay I want to revert it to stock (if I need to cos I didn't erase and flash it!!)
Also I wish someone would please explain the difference between the one and two stage spoof from Hitachi to Benq as explained in my other post.

Switching drives for Live is pointless. It won't prevent or help you from getting banned, and since spoofing is detectable anyway, you're probalby screwed as it is. Setting up as external sata, meaning you plugged the drive into the port on the outside and then it worked? If that worked, that just means you didn't have the correct port set in JF.

Still trying to figue out why the ole Hitachi 79 doesn't work. When I tried to restore it to stock in JF I got the message Master Checksum is not sent, this is not normal for modded drive. Drive not likely hackedIf this is so why I can't I get the damn tray to open-keeps saying open ons creen but when you use the controller it just changes to closed and then reading reading reading....
Also tried to open it manually but no joy.
Is there a simple fix for this or is my only salvation doing a full flash with iXtreme so I have two mooded drives that will work on the same motherboard and play back ups etc.

Hitachi's can be fun at times. Especially the 79 due to it needed the laser to unlock. Sometimes they take forever to flash. I always do mine with PORTIO, you can also try Winapi but you need the 6421 drivers enabled for that to work. I never had good luck with it, but sometimes hitachis need it if they are giving you trouble. Just another reason I hate those drives.

If it's reporting as stock in JF and I don't want to flash it anyway is there any reason why the darn tray won't eject?
If I flash it with iXtreme would it then probably be easier to return to stock?
