Hi, new guy here.

I got 2 questions.

1. My 360, which has a modded Hitachi DVD drive, got the RROD. So I bought a used 360 with a bad BenQ DVD drive. I got a replacement BenQ drive, and switched the logic board. I popped in Bioshock, Halo 2, and Splinter Cell 3, and the drive reads those with no problem.
When I popped in Ninja Gaiden 2, the drive reads it and then the screen turns blank(black). I take the game out, wipe it clean and popped it back in. Then I get a message that reads; 'To play this disc, put it in an xbox 360 console'.
What could the problem be?

2. Like I said, the Hitachi drive from RROD 360 is modded. I know I can copy the key from the BenQ drive to the Hitachi drive? But, will the BenQ drive still work?
I want to be able to use the BenQ drive to be able to go online, and used the modded Hitachi drive to play burnt games offline.
Is this possible?

Thanks.

Ok, now on the dashboard it say; 'play ninja gaiden 2'. When I press A, I heard the disc start to spin then it stops and the screen stays blank...no message...just a blank screen.

What version of firmware is on the drive? Keep in mind that if you use a Benq drive in a former Hitachi xbox, then you will have to "spoof" the benq to a Hitachi.

I already placed the logic board of the original BenQ drive that came with the console, into the new BenQ drive. It works fine. The Hitachi drive is from another console. The Hitachi drive is modded already.

What I wanna do is copy the drive key off the BenQ to the Hitachi. Will the BenQ still work? So I'll have 2 working drives; modded Hitachi, and unmodded BenQ. Is it possible?

Basically what I'm trying to say is, can you have 2 working drive that'll work in the same console? Can you install the same key onto 2 drives

You cannot swap a hitachi board onto a benQ, they are not the same PCB. If you want this to work, you have to spoof to the drive you want to use. The hitachi being modded doesn't matter since it was on another console. The cpu key must match the dvd key. In your case they do not. Dump the benQ firmware from the bad benQ. Open jungle flasher and load the benQ firmware you dumped as the source and LT 1.2 as target. Hit spoof and then write the firmware. Hit outro. You are now spoofed.

Guess I'm not making myself clear, lol. Let me explain again.

Bought used 360 with BenQ drive. Drive is bad. Got new BenQ drive. Took logic board from bad drive and put into new drive. It works fine.

Have a Hitachi drive from a different 360. That drive is modded.

I know I can spoof the Hitachi with the BenQ key. But, if I copy key from BenQ to Hitachi, will BenQ still work. Can the same key be on 2 drive at the same time?

yes the key will work on as many drives as you install it on, not a problem.

Ok cool!

So basically when you spoof drive(B) with key from drive(A), the key will still be on drive(A)? The key copies to drive(B), but doesn't come off drive(A)? The console will recognize both drives?

I wanna be able to use drive (A) to go online, so as to not get banned, lol.
And use drive (B) (that will be modded) to play burnt games offline.

Yes, I will be opening the case and switching drives, lol!

I would just get extra long power and sata cables and set the drives outside or on top of the xbox. You may get banned anyway though if the console logs serial numbers or any other identifying feature of the drive. It will detect that console as booting up with different drives. (Maybe)

Yes you can spoof as many drives as you want with the BenQ key, having multibple drives that work in your console. My question is why do you want to use the Hitachi in your console, as it's not as good/reliable a drive as your brand new BenQ.

Ok, so it seems like the 'new' BenQ drive I bought isn't new, afterall!

After I replaced the logic board, the 'new' drive worked fine. That was on Friday. It read Bioshck, Halo 2, and Splinter cell3, but had problems reading Ninja Gaiden 2.
On Saturday afternoon I hook up the 360 to Xbox Live, and tried playing NG2 again. It took a while for the dics to be read, but it managed to get to the 'home' screen of the game. But it wouldn't let me play...the disc would stop spinning.

Last night, I turned on the 360(which had the Bioshck disc inside), and now the disc wouldn't even spin. Same with Halo and SC3. It just keep saying, 'open tray' whenever I put the discs in, and it tries to read them! Guess I got a bad drive?

Bought it off Ebay. The vendor say it was new, but I guess not!

Cheap in what way? I'm talking about original discs that not being read, not copies. The Benq drive isn't flashed!

Ok, so today the drive decides to read discs, lol. I start playing Bioshock, and(in the beginning of the game)just as you're about to get out of the submersible, it freezes and say to clean the disc 'cause it's unreadable. Then I put in Ninja Gaiden 2, it tries to read the game, but freezes and says 'unrecognizable disc' and the disc is unreadable, clean disc with soft cloth and restart the console. Those are the only 2 360 games I got ATM.

Then I put in Halo 2, and it plays it with no problem! This is really confusing, lol!

I used to have a modded 360 that my HDD was attached to. It got banned last year. I read about this corrupting save files. Could that be my problem?

if you are sure you are using good quality discs, i would recommend checking the pot settings on the laser, those lasers even new can have some really off the wall settings, benq/liteon is 0.7 - 0.8 & 5.0 - 5.3 it would be possible that your dvd setting is around 6 that was cause the symptoms you are describing.

Like I said before, it's a different 360 and the DVD drive isn't modded. Only the HDD was used on a modded 360 that got banned. Therefore, the discs I'm talking about are original ones.
