I have recently flashed my lite-on drive, using my on board sata, so I know I have a working set up. However I had to flash it in DOS flash for the drive did not erase properly in jungle flasher as I messed up the power cycle. But now I am trying to flash a samsung ms28 drive in jungleflasher, the drive was detected listing a veried key. Therefore I clicked samsung unlock, but it failed at stage 3. I decided to restart jungleflasher but now it takes several tries to detect the drive correctly, sometimes the drive is shown as vendor:st3160023as fw:8.3, but when the samsung drive is shown the dvd key is shown as several 0's or just not detected, yet samsung unlock will now work, However when I click read some 'x's appear, and jungle flasher will not complete the process. The dvd drive will not play xbox 360 games now, it simply says play DVD. Is it possible that I have bricked my dvd drive even though I have neither tried to delete or flash the firmware. Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
Try Iprep, see if that gets you out of your half flash, it's dos based so it may work, plus its fully automated. If Iprep does it than you can use jungleflasher to put whatever firmware you like on there since iprep comes with older ix1.6 firmware.
Thanks for the advice, however im not sure how to use Iprep so I tried with dosflash. I made the usb bootable using iprep, yet it wouldnt let me load samsungfirmware, then copied over dosflash. After running dosflash it lists the samsung drive and automatically tries to make it enter vendor but says, 'MTK vendor failed' even after power cycling several times. Because I dont have the dvd key, is the drive pretty much bricked.
No I dont have the dvd key, I was flashing from stock and after pressing sammy unlock, it failed at stage 3. Now jungleflasher wont detect the dvd key so after performing sammy unlock and clicking read x's are shown. And no im not using a via chip but flashed a lite-on using the same onboard sata.
if you dont have the key and it has been erased then its a brick as the only way to get the key would be to read from the system board of the 360 which is best to send to someone to do for you at a price.
are you sure it was a stock drive before you started using it? if you bought it second hand /used console then it could have already been flashed with a much older version of fw. the unlock method for those is different than a stock drive.
