What is the best excuse y'all have used? I am having audio issues and the standard warranty literally expired 2 days ago. It still falls under the 3 year extended warranty (rrod)but what should I tell them?

I am thinking about describing the issue as intermittent 3 red light errors so maybe it'll be difficult for them to replicate the error and just send me a refubed one. What have yall done in the past or recommend?

People tell them it's 3 red lights anyway, they don't check, they dont have time to. That's why they don't repair the actual console you send them, at least not for you. You will get someone else's refurb back. Just to cover your rear, write in the comment box that it works for 20 minutes then red rings, you know theyre not gonna sit there for 20 minutes with a cup of coffee and stare at your console. You're just another service tag and they want to go home too!

Freakin 100 bux!!! Crazy ass money, might as well buy a used one from Gamestop. Thats what I should have done to begin with... Oh well, I'll tell them RROD occasionaly comes up and cross my fingers. Any other suggestions or prior experience?

we're not really supposed to be discussing how to circumvent warranty terms here, but let's just say I personally know many people with many prior experiences for the last 3 years who have done what I suggested in my previous post. All have come back with flying colors. No matter what the issue is, always choose red ring.

ya snickle is right, i worked for ibm and apple and if you have a problem that takes awhile to appear after the unit warms up then most techs will just go ahead and replace system boards or whatever is needed.

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

just as an FYI / update.... IT WORKED!!! got a "fresh" 360!

Unusual issue though. The unit received does not use the same power supply as the one I sent off. Luckily, i have a bannedr xbox (launch model) that uses the same power supply. But now im stuck w/ a banned 360 and a newer power supply. maybe i should call and complain, but afterall, I did get lucky....

As for the "fresh" 360, back of the console has a manufacture date of 11/5/2010. Is it possible they made one just for me ;)? As in brand new?

does it say manufacture date, or service date?

I've seen some consoles come back from ms with a "service" date
