Hi my xbox 360 elite got the 2 red lights took it to be repaired at a pc shop, they told me it was fixed Paid £35 got it home still the same 2reds. took it back with charger ect, they said it was my charger and sold me 1 for £20 mine was 170w and the 1 they gave me was 203w still 2reds. phoned them and they said it worked in shop and it must be the electric socket in my house. tryed it in 2 houses still same. any idea of the cause. Help Please
lol they're so full of shit. "It's your wall socket"? Haha the power brick changes the voltage from the AC in the wall to the DC voltage the system requires. AC voltage can have a bit of range: 110 to 120v (err..maybe 220-240 in europe?), meaning you put in 110v AC, the 360 delivers 12v DC. You put in 120v AC, the system still gives you 12v DC. The wall socket isnt going to change anything (as you've already seen)!
This isnt even considering the fact that 2 red lights is an overheating error! They either 1) used shitty thermal paste, like ceramic or 2) didn't fit the heatsink or x-clamp/replacement properly. They fucked up, not you
with the wrong power brick you get 3 red lights, id take the power brick back and demand a full refund for all the work as it aint fixed it? maybe it needs to be reflowed, does it boot up or just straight 2 red lights?
Hi the game kicks up and i can play the game for 5 min. then it gose blank and i get the 2 red lights.I have even tried putting a big fan near it to no effect

You can only run for 5 minutes because it's getting up to temperature. An external fan isnt going to do anything when it's getting 90*C. Stop trying to play it until it's fixed or else you could damage it more!

You can easily fix this yourself. Look at w00ly's sig. His guide has helped me resurrect many consoles, and 99% of them are still running today. I would definitely take the power brick back and get your money back as well as have them show you it running. If they won't let you see it running at their facility, then I'd demand a total refund. Good Luck!
A reflow isnt necessary if the system actually starts though. He just needs better silver-based thermal paste and to make sure the heatsinks are sitting on the chip evenly

Hi WOOLY i will have a go at it when i get some paste and let you know how i get on. Ive nothing to loose as at the moment its a digital doorstop. Thanks
