This past weekend I just purchased Fable III for my xbox 360, I have children that are very hard on the games and tend to leave them out and they get ruined. So after a lot of research I found out that you can mod the xbox to be able to play backup copies of games. I used jungle flasher and flashed my BENQ DVD ROM, this was my first time trying anything like this but here is a copy of the log file.

Anyways I think that I did that correctly according to all the info I have researched. I then use the ABGX360 program and mod the ISO to be able to play and use IMGBURN to produce the backup. Everything went smoothly no errors. But when I put the backup copy into the XBOX360 it says its reading but nothing happens, it just says Open Tray, now i researched that Open Tray error, but the problem is it is only happening with the back up copy. I tried to burn the backup 3 more times but they did the same thing. I was burning at 2.4x. My question is this do you think its the media I am using? Which is memorex Dual Layer 8.5GB 8x. I read that verbatim discs were better. I have no problem purchasing these discs and actually found them at best buy but there was only a 25 pack. I don't wish to purchase them if they are not going to work as well. Oh ya btw my dvd burner is a liteon and here is a link of the specs http://www.compsource.com/pn/IHAS32408/Lite-On_770/ Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

So if I spend the money on the verbatim discs I shouldn't have any problem with my xbox playing the backups?

i tried memorex for the first time 2 weeks ago after using verbatim for 2 years. the results i found were that memorex discs caused failed burns and many many cannot read disc errors.

if you get verbatim and it still happens then its most def not the discs unless you are burning them incorrectly.

If for some reason i didn't do the burn correctly would there be a different error message besides the open tray error? Sorry if that is a dumb question lol.

possibly a cannot read disc error once you tried to launch game.

let me ask a few questions.

do retail games not backups but originals still work after you modded the drive with new fw?
if no then that means the mod didnt work correctly and you will need to reflash again. thats assuming it did read the dvd key correctly and save a backup the first time around.

if originals do load fine then i would say it is either a bad disc or incorrect burn.

you also said you were using abgx to mod the iso. if you have lt 1.2 you dont really need to mod it. but maybe you meant you are just doing a scan and letting abgx autofix?

Yes orginal games still work. And I am using lt 1.2 in my first post I copy and pasted the log file from jungleflasher. I believe that I did that correct but like i said this is my first time doing so. As far as agbx I used it to scan the iso and make sure it was safe to use. I tried this with both fable 3 and madden 11 and they both did the same thing. as for the burn I didn't get any errors and I used imgburn. I do have clone dvd would that be a better program to use? Thanks again for all the help. I already wasted 4 discs, do u suggest just going out and buying the verbatim discs? Also since orginals work then the flash is correct?

ok well if originals work then that means you flashed it right, so good job there on your first flash :)

did you connect to live and get the new dashboard update? if so then that is why fable 3 wont load cause it has new security in it that wont let certain new backups load on flashed drives.
if you dont have the new dash update then its gotta be the crap memorex or something during burning is going wrong.

i use imgburn as well and have had great success with it, so keep with that.
when you burn 360 games you have to make sure you are selecting the .dvd file to burn instead of the .iso file. the .dvd file sets the layerbreak so you dont have to do it manually. if you dont have a dvd file then abgx will create one for you when you scan the iso. if you think your dvd file is incorrect you can just delete it and then run abgx to get a new one quickly.

if you are sure all that is being done correctly then yes i would say get some verbatims. memorex is just poor quality and can have varying results on different drives. the games that i did get burned on memorex would load fine on my box but while i was playing the new medal of honor i got several dirty disc errors when playing and that forced me to install to hdd to avoid those. while my friend has a older samsung drive and it will barely even recognize the same memorex game i am loading in my benq.

Only use imgburn. Abgx will make the .dvd file for you. Only use the media I suggested. If that doesn't work , you have a weak laser.

I havent logged into live in about 6 months so i do not have the new update. Another thing i did notice while trying to read the backup copies is that my xbox dvd drive was making a loud noise so maybe the discs are really bad. At best buy now getting verbatim

yea i have heard the laser make ticking sounds like it is jumping around trying to read a bad disc.
weak laser plus bad media can do that. while a weak laser plus good media can work fine

Okay if you don't think its the media what else could it be? I have bought verbatim discs but I am still at work. I thought maybe its my burner so I am going to try to burn with my external drive and see if that works.

its different results on different drives, trust me IT IS the memorex. i have a benq they load fine but then after a while i sometimes get dirty disc error just like you. then i can take the very same disc to a samsung i have and it takes at least 20 tries of ejecting and closing the try for it to even recognize the disc at all. it makes the laser work really hard to read the disc so even if you have a good drive it will go bad over time using low quality media.
