Okay to update witout flashing to stock first?

So the title is pretty self explanatory. My connectivity kit just died as I was about to revert back to stock before downloading the update. So is it safe to download the update with the LT firmware?

c4 said updating looks safe after he disected the update. i took that to mean it is but always best to flash to stock if you want to be sure. me im lazy and i have several boxes so im gonna update without flashing to stock first. plus my box was onlive before LT was released so i figure im flagged already anyway.

if it is going to happen then it could come at anytime. im willing to bet it comes before or on the day that blackops launches. i told my friend yesterday that i thought we would for sure see the dash update this tuesday, i was off by one day tho :)
