Hi
Me again with hopefully the last episode of my Hitachi 79 probs.

Believe it or not have finally unlocked drive and performed what I thought was a textbook spoof to transfer the FW to a new Benq I just bought. The good new is that the Bneq works fine (bit noisy) but plays original and back up games. The bad news is that the old Hitachi now gets to the main xbox menu and then just says reading, reading etc and you can?t open the tray. You can get it to the point where you are prompted to open but when you select it just reverts quickly back to close and then reading?.

What I did was:

? Unlock the Hitachi and save original FW but did not write new FW
? Did the same with the Benq
? Spoofed with Hitachi as source and Benq as target
? Spoofed again with the result in the source and 1.2 LT in the target
? Write FW to drive

I naively thought that I had stopped shot of dumping the Hitachi FW and was expecting it to still play originals etc. I?ve re-read the tut and obviously the FW has been dumped at the point that I got the message to save the FW etc. I now have Hitachi OFW bin and key bin so am I right in thinking that I have to flash iXtreme in the Hitachi tab using the original firmware as the source?

I thought there was a sort of half way house where you could extract and save the FW without flashing the drive. Happy to use this but thought I could keep the Hit for xbox live etc.

Your help would be appreciated as usual.

The steps you should've taken in Jungle Flasher are
Dump Original Hitachi FW
Open it as source
Open Benq LT as target
Click the copy source to target (something like that, JF ain't open)
Write that FW to BenQ drive.

I think where you may have messed up is spoofing a already spoofed FW.
You can just restore the hitachi drive with FW toolbox 4.8 (maybe even JF) and it should be fine..

I'm a bit confused as the "double spoof" was exactly how I was advised to go on this board. Can you advise how I can restore the Hitachi using JF as I'm more familiar with that. Also would it be restored to stock or would it have to be modded to work now.

Many thanks

Come on guys, help me out please. I followed advice given on this board and now I?m stymied. I?m sure there is a fix for this but the examples on the web are all based on Hitachis flashed and then returned to stock FW. In my case a double spoof has rendered the Hitachi drive useless even though the Benq works and has the LT 1.2.

I thought the process I followed would retain the stock Hitachi FW but now it?s neither flashed nor stock. My preference would be to restore to stock if that?s possible for obvious reasons.

Many thanks for your help
