MY USB ports arent working on my banned box any longer, and i was wondering if anyone knew a fix. None work, front or back, and i have tried leaving it unplugged for awhile. Its kind of a pain, so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have tried multiple devices. iPods, rock band stuff, multiple USB flash drives. Nada.

Thanks for the suggestion though buddy.

pretty strange that they would all go out at the same time. any changes recently that could have caused it?

None that I know of. I recently had to swap in a new DVD drive around 5 months ago. Old one died. That's it though.

well if they were working after the swap but now have stopped then i dont know. i would say if they were not working after the swap at all then maybe there is a short somewhere but thats a maybe. i have seen systems act weird when the motherboard isn't grounded properly in the chassis. those are rare events tho.

That's the thing. I never tried them until now. So they probably shorted out. Is there a way I can fix it?

i would take the console back apart and make sure everything is in the right place and positioned correctly. did you take the system out of the tray to do a rrod fix or anything? if all you did was swap the dvd drive then im assuming you didnt take the board out of the chassis. but if it is a used console then maybe the previous owner did and it is worth checking. you can test it with the case off to make sure it works before you put it all back together

I didnt take it out of the chassis and I opened it and everything seemed good. I'm thinking it had to be a short. They aren't responding to anything. I'll look again though.

Any other ideas would be welcomed.

Again, I appreciate the help man. Much obliged.
