So there is a great deal of speculation going around that Sony can ban Jailbroken PS3's based on what is the flash memory. First off how does anyone know what stored in the FLASH memory if they cannot access it? Second has anyone actually got banned. Any information with factual evidence greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I havent heard anything yet, but ppl are being cautious due to how M$ banned tonnes of consoles when COD:MW2 was released. They could detect, or claim to detect modifed drives and so banned them when they went online.

With the PS3, ppl think $ony might be able to do something similar, i.e. detect if there is a folder called omanxxx etc, or which ever folder backup managers use.

Well that was when the firmware was still on 3.41. But now you need 3.50 to go online, and that firmware blocks any dongle. Some say if uninstall the backup manager and make sure the folders it created are deleted, you can update to the latest firmware and go online without a problem

Yeah I was going to do a complete reformat of the Hard drive to make sure, as I have the new COD coming tomorrow, but this flash issue is of some concern. I do not care if my ps3 is jailbroken anymore just want to update and not get banned.

I am waiting for the people that have spent the last month hacking trophies to do an update and sync trophies...I bet we will see bans then!
