LimeWire is back, this time as 'LimeWire Pirate Edition'

article published on 9 November, 2010

Just two weeks after LimeWire was permanently shut down by a federal ruling, a "secret dev team" has brought the P2P client back, dubbed the LimeWire Pirate Edition (LPE). Not that i use any torrents or pirate software/song myself, just seems this is long enough for the parties concerned to put in the necessary hacks to harvest those who are pirating, reminds me of a sting operation where a live. The police sent invitations to convicts that skipped out reporting to their parole officers or bail, or missed court dates. After the party was going good and everyone showed up, they were all taken back to prison.

I can't help but think this is just another string.

I doubt its a sting, It was probably limewires former employees who wanted to see it continue. I think its great the stripped all the ads and ditched the spyware, I might tell some computer noobs I know to download this now

Bring on the viruses and malware infections. I swear every computer I have seen with Limewire on it has had some sort of infection or something.

It's there fault they don't know how to scan the files or pay attention from kb to mb.

Serious...if you can't tell the difference then you deserve to have viruses and malware.

No it is totally the user's fault. They are taking a risk using P2P and should be more careful. I was just saying that overall there seems to be many virus infected files on the limewire network based off just about every computer I have seen with Limewire on it had an infection usually in the limewire download folder(s). No need to get bent out of shape.

the government might as well give up. the only way to stop the piracy is to shut the internet off and i don't see that happening

Please don't speak that way. And quite frankly, that should have been your statement about limewire...
