Hi all
I currently have a PS3 running 3.50 FW, but the idea of jailbreak appeals to me greatly.
In you honest opinions given your experience of JB, is it worth me selling my current model for one with 3.41 FW?
Thanks for your feedback.

What if you picked up a second one at a pawn shop for cheap? If you are ok with giving up psn ability and the possibility of not running new games, then do it. I believe all games are still working though (for the most part)

That idea aside, what I'm really looking for is some feedback on whether or not JB is worth it. Is it something you would recommend?

Newbie, here's a thought-why not just get a job and buy the games instead of trying to steal them???

Because piracy isnt the only reason to jailbreak your console. There are already homebrew being made.
Jailbreaking your console is up to you.
If you do jailbreak your console you can backup your games onto a hdd, and also use homebrew apps like the snes emulator etc. You cannot however go online with your console as you will risk it being banned.
If you dont jailbreak obviously you cannot backup your games so will require the disk each time you play. you can go online, but then you cant use homebrew.
Because of this many have actually decided to buy a second ps3 if they can afford it, second hand or even a new one. This way you can have you use officially to go online, and the other you jailbreak and dont use online.
Is it worth it? Depends on how you are gonna use it and if jailbreaking the console is actually worth it for you, not someone else.

Thanks bigo93 for a sensible response.
Next question, for someone just getting into JB for PS3, which method would you use in terms of ease of use and/or functionality?

I would go with the Teensy 2.0; it is cheap enough, it is made well, and it gets updates first. Also, it has output pins that might be used in the future. It does not come in a case...since you will have kids using it, I would recommend making something up out of a project box or something.
Oh, you might be considering getting a unit off of ebay with no BluRay drive...this is not a great idea at this time, as some games still require an original PS3 game to be in the drive (it can be any game; even some crap from the $5 closeout rack)
