hi everyone, so i bought a faulty ps3 (faulty bluray drive)which i have now fixed except the socket to which the optical disc sensor thing plugs in is totally damaged and im sure i have read somewhere that it cannot be replaced. does anyone know this to be true. thanks for any help clarexx

hi again, so ive done some searching and it seems i can buy 1 of these bluray drive logic board on ebay aswell as a few other sites. i sent em a question asking is it a straight swap (of boards)or do i have to soda the nand chip (which ive read) and they said i could just swap as easy as that. pls can 1 of you guys confirm this because some people say the board is married to the ps3 it came with. thanks clarexx

You do have to transfer the PCB chip; each PS3 drive is encoded to only work with it's accomponied system board - Just like the DVD-Key with X360 drives. Are you certain the connector is beyond repair? Someone with good skills and proper equipment should be able to at least swap connectors.
