Verizon adds new 150Mbit/sec tier to FiOS lineup

Verizon has announced this week that it will be adding a new, speedier tier to its FiOS fiber broadband offering, offering as high as 150Mbit/sec downstream and 34Mbit upstream.
The service will cost users $195 per month.
So far, Verizon is rolling out the service to 12 U.S. states, and D.C., with small businesses and residential consumers expected to be able to use it fully by the end of the year.

I would prefer that they were actually available. It does no good to have this awesome speed if it's not available anywhere.

Yeah.......all that power and speed for what.............capped upload speeds that are inherent to EVERY SINGLE SERVER?
150Mbps........Hmmmm...........that rocks for a single household of 150 family members all downloading simultaneously at a rate of 1Mbps.
Nonsense!

I am buying a house in a neighborhood that is scheduled to get FiOS in January...brand new 150mbps lines will be run right into this house.
BTW, I am not drooling over the download speed...34mbps upstream...that is what I want.

I wish Verizon FIOS was in the Houston Texas area. All we have here is Comcasy & AT&T U-Verse. If Verizon was available to me I'd switch to it in a heartbeat!!

I have the Verizon 35 up/35 down and have not noticed any capping or throttling issues. There are 3 adults here and we all use the connection heavily and constantly (streaming, downloading, etc). TV and internet is only 104 a month (about what I paid for cable. The capping and stuff is mostly from the older networks that have issues with handling the traffic, I suspect it has not happened to FIOS as they are encouraging use, the system was built right, and they want to keep users from leaving when they hit a cap.
