i have a movie in .mp4 format i downloaded but it wont play on my ps3, it says corrupted data even though i know its not, because it plays perfect on my laptop.
is there a way i can get this file to play on my ps3? i dont want to stream it, i dont mind converting it but dont want to lose quality.

how are you trying to play it? Through a flash drive or directly on the ps3? It should play a mp4 either way I believe, but I have heard of people having problems with HD content.
I know you said you dont want to stream, that has always worked best for me, but with a file that size you would definitely need a wired connection.
Hi, im trying to play it directly on the ps3. its odd because all my others work just fine... i have tried to stream it over wireless connection and it plays perfectly but i have to use Mencoder through Playstation Media Server. but i prefer not to stream.
yea, ive run into odd things like that as well. I dont really know, probably something to do with filesize. Have you played similar HD files in a mp4 format, i personally have not?
As for converting, you may could google some video conversion programs, I really dont have any good suggestions on them, the ones I have found usually take forever and the quality of video is really bad after the conversion. I generally try to rip my videos to .avi or if hd .mkv and stream them, that works well for the most part.
I understand the want to have them directly on the ps3 though, it works much better, but takes so much room and time consuming to do a lot that way and it only reads particular file types.
