My kids 360 has iextreme 1.5 on it and for some reason i have 2 dvd drives for it, when the first became unreliable i popped the second in and all was fine. now ive decided that i will buy the gear (executor etc and download the new firmware)and do my next drive myself. I have from the person that did my 360 last time two files with firmwares in them
the first is a liteon folder and has four files in named Dummy, Identify, Inquiry and Key
the second folder is called samsung and has two files called sam_cfw and sam_ofw
I assume that my original drive was a samsung and the liteon was spoofed
what new drive do i buy to put the new firmware on? (the box will not go on live) can i spoof and update?
could i just apply the liteon folder to a new liteon drive then update the firmware to the lt+?
its a jungle! (and yes ill need to download that too ;o))

if you buy the same model drive as the original (ms28 or ms25) then you'll be able to put LT+ on and play new games

ok so i need a new samsung drive and have to wait for the samsung lt+ firmware, thanks for confirming that for me
i assume you did mean that its impossible to spoof a drive with the new firmware and not just it will be banned, as all im after is the ability to play ap2.5 games not go online
the kids are desperate for need for speed :o(

No you just need a samsung with LT
samsungs arent affected by ap2.5 so there is no need for LT+ with samsung. which is why it wasnt released

Thanks that explains why my samsung with 1.5 recognises the game, as in it shows up but when you launch it it comes up with the unplayable disc message.
out of interest, why didnt down waving it work? if the samsung doesnt check for 2.5
( i had done the usb stick method of updating the dash to the latest)

It doesnt load the game cause you are using a spoofed drive
wave patching didn't/wouldnt work with any drive type cause the wave has nothing to do with ap2.5

I think im getting a bit confused, its the samsung drive that is in the machine at the moment, i have the liteon here on the bench, looking at my backed up firmware files the liteon was the spoofed drive and the samsung the original. can i confirm this by opening the files in jungle?
if you look at my first post in this thread you will see the files assosiated with each drive.

so you were not the one that did the spoof? if you did then you cant remember which one was the original drive?
the files wont really tell you which one was the original drive as it sounds like you have the standard fw files the original will have the key but so will the spoofed drive.
look at the console case and see what the manufactured date is, if its really old then it cant be a liteon cause they were introduced much later and samsungs were the first type of drive

thanks ill check that tommorow and report back ;o)
im not sure why i have 2 drives, or more to the point if either of them are the original one, if they where not is there any way of knowing what drive was originaly in a 360?
this could turn into a nightmare!!

uhh maybe if the ofw for either drives has the correct key then that may be the original drive. i would suspect that only the original drives original fw would be the only stock(ofw) fw you have with a matching key. the spoofed drive would only have the key in the cracked fw and not the original stock(ofw) fw.

well i couldnt let this go so downloaded jungleflasher and opened up the firmware bin files and the lite on opens and says it is iextreme, and the samsung opens says it is iextreme and has a nice extra line saying it is spofed as a liteon !!
so my game will not play as you say as its in a spoofed drive ! (the samsung spoofed as a liteon) the good news is i can now order a new liteon drive and get the lt+ firmware and i already have the keys etc extracted
mystery solved, so now time for bed !
