i'm seriously ready to smash things ..
i've got a basic 360 that had already been flashed, and i've been trying to upgrade that flash this afternoon but I just cannot get the PC to see the drive.
I've tried jungleflasher on all ports with no luck. i've tried dosflasher but get no atapi drives connected.
i've got a plug-in SATA card with the VIA 5337 chipset and i've plugged the master port directly into the back of the 360 drive.
On one try, the RAID controller did appear to see the drive as a CD-ROM but i can't replicate that.
i can't seem to uninstall the raid drivers and i've googled for both different methods to uninstall them in windows 7.
the 360 itself is fine - i was using it this morning. now it's in bits on the floor :)
if i disable the sata controller in device manager, it reboots and automatically re-installs it which i can't prevent either..
i'm probably way past the point of not being able to see the wood for the trees but i really would appreciate a bit of help or even a clue if someone has any ideas. thanks.

if i load the bin file from the previous flash, it says the vendor is a lite-on, model is DG-16D2S, Rev 74850C and the firmware type is ixtreme 1.61
although i've just realised it says lite-on but i don't think it makes a difference ..
or knowing my luck it does ..

you know what.. screw it. i give up.
i don't want to leave my xbox in bits on the floor for weeks .. if anyone does have any clues or ideas then i'd still be very grateful, but i'm just not going to waste another 5 hours trying to get the PC to see the drive ..

funny you say that because i've just spent the last two hours trying to get the PC to recognise it in Windows XP.
Yes, I did reformat my PC and re-load Windows XP just to try to getting it to work.
I appreciate the link stealthdf but I really am done with this now. I have to assume my SATA card isn't compatible. If it becomes absolutely necessary then I guess i'll have to pay someone to upgrade the flash to cope with AP2.5, or i'll have to wait for some kind of non-invasive, direct to XBox procedure.

I appreciate the generous offer very much but it's fine. I probably will go back and try it again in time, but i'll do a bit of research on the best SATA card to get first - I've got a fairly generic one - Silicon Image SiI 3132 SoftRaid 5 Controller to be precise.
I've got plenty of games to keep me going in the mean time :)

Very good point. I think that's how i've picked up most of my I.T. knowledge over the years - taking things apart and trying not to break them!
