Hi. How do I upgrade a Lite-On 74850c to LT+? I looked around a bit and seen that you can't read the firmware from an LT Lite-On 74850c. Am I stuck with LT? Thanks in advance.

As long as you have your key or original dump then it wont be a problem, if not then as far as I know you have two choices. There is a device called a probe II that will get your key from a flashed lite-on, or you will have to do the mra method, which involves cutting and soldering traces on board to get full fw dump. Once you have your key it is really simple first open your fw dump in source if you have it, if not you can just load lt+ in target and copy your dvd key into the target dvd key. Only advantage to having your original dump is that it contains a few extra properties specific to your dirve such as laser calibration data, but you can not get this after it is flashed so if you dont already have it then dont worry. After everything is loaded correctly, and drive is connected click the mtkflash 32 tab. First click the lite-on erase button at top, it will prompt you not to continue if you dont have key which you shouldn't. After it is done erasing you will have to cut drive off and on quickly, and should get 0x72 status I believe. After you get correct status click write, and enjoy.

Ok thanks the problem is I formatted my pc so it's gone. I have another Lite-On 83850c with LT on it will I have to do the soldering and trace cutting on that too or is there a probe for it?

Iv'e got the same problem.You can't use the probe to retrieve your key if it has been flashed with LT.You have to do the MRA hack to get your key again if you have lost it.

Is there a tutorial then to make sure I do it properly because I don't solder to often.

Use the the Jungleflasher 1.3.8 tutorial.Everything you need is in there.

You need Jungle Flasher 1.76 for LT+ support. Why would you ever delete your keys? You will have to redump them before you can update.

It was a mistake my pc was slow so I reformatted it and forgot about all the keys but I didn't know LT stopped them from being readable. I'll have a look at the tutorial thanks.
