Hi guys, hoping someone can help here.

Got a Slim PS3 running FW 3.01 and trying to jailbreak with X3Max. When I turn the PS3 on by pressing the power then the eject button quickly, I can't get a display? Note that this happens whether the X3 key is inserted or not. I can get a display by turning it on normally, just not with this method.

Any ideas?

Have you flashed the x3 with the correct file? Most of the files out there are for those on 3.41, so if you are on a lower firmware you gotta download the one that will work with it.

I can try this, but I also don't get a display when nothing is plugged in either. What does this mean?

Is it a new ps3, or a second hand ps3?
Was the ps3 working before?
Have you moved it from a SD TV to a HDTV?
Are you using a differnt way to connect to the tv?

IF you've moved to a different TV or changed connection type you will ahve to reset teh ps3. With the ps3 off (red led on) press and hold the power button, wait and it will beep, keep holding the power button, it'll beep a second time. then release the power button and the ps3 will turn off. Now turn it on normally and if will ask you to set up the video configuration again.

Got it sorted now, upgraded to 3.41 and it loads ok. I do however have a new problem now!

All the backups of my games I'm taking fail to load, they just give the message "An error occurred during the start operation (8001003A)".

Here's my setup

Slim PS3 with FW 3.41
X3MAX with Hermes v4b
Open Manager 1.17.1

I've tried various different managers but still get the same results, so I'm obviously going wrong somewhere.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Are you pressing the power then the eject button straight after when you start the ps3? just powering it up doesnt work.

Also remember you have to unplug the console each time you want to start the jailbreak, if you leave the power plug plugged in it wont work.

Also check to make sure the games can be backup up first, this jailbreak is not 100% effective. you can check for compatible games at www.psjcl.com

You may also have to delete the game install data (the stuff that the game installs, even when you are running from a disk).
