I'm new to this and not sure which is the best way to do this but
just wanted to know a few things. I was just on psjailbreak.com and they had this

As of today we would like to announce a couple huge changes not only to our product but also to the whole community. PS Downgrade is now unlimited... that right.... Update to play original 3.50 with 3D videos and Online play and Downgrade to play homebrew or Other OS.

with this can I play my ps3 backups online? because thats all i do with my ps3 is play online and thats why I did not do the jailbreak I been waiting for someone to crack it to play online.

Also one more thing if i jailbreak my ps3 can I play games I buy online?

every time you update you will lose the ability to play homebrew and backups. you have to downgrade back to 3.41 or w/e in order to play homebrew and backups. Otherwise there would be no need to downgrade....

Not sure , some PSJB reseller claims they successfully in downgrade but all the normal customers never did it . You'd better sit back and see what's going to happen.
