I just got my flashed 360 off of eBay today and I'm having a playing certain games. I've tried to burn splatterhouse twice now and when I put it in it just says "play DVD" I know the system plays backup discs because there was a working burned copy of NHL 09 in the drive when I got it. I'm using image burn, and based on the tutorials I'm reading/watching it seems like I'm doing everything right. Has anybody had this issue before and knows what I'm doing wrong? Could it be the discs I'm using (Memorex)? I'm totally new to this so I apologize for sounding like a complete moron as I have no idea what these "waves" and such are. The game I was trying to play was Splatterhouse. Is it possible that I have to patch the iso? I'm competent enough to get this working as long as someone can point me in the right direction.

it probably has old firmware.
it sounds like you will need to update to lt+.
you will also have to get the keys from the drive to reflash it.
is it banned from live?
take it to a local shop to get someone to do it for you if your not to sure about it.
if you ask them nicley im sure thay will know some one who will do it for you.
it should only cost around 15 euro no more than that.

They have to be reflashed? I didn't know that. It's banned from live already. I have another non flashed system that I use on XBL. I was just trying to play some single player titles.

Waves: When the 360 was made, the initial games were made a certain way to look the same (1st wave). When system updates started coming our way, those system updates were also included on the discs of newer games, making them different in file size, structure, etc, from the 1st games (i.e. 2nd wave). Every time a new update comes out, it's placed on a new wave of games. So if the 360 lives another 5 years, we'll probably see wave 20 hit us.

Firmware: In the past, iXtreme firmware was created to boot then current waves safely (to minimize the risk of being banned). If the game wasn't burned correctly, it wouldn't boot. When a new wave of games comes out, the firmware can't boot it, meaning we have to wait a few months for c4ve to release a new firmware that will boot the new wave. That was then, but now we have iXtreme LT+ firmware that will boot any wave of game. With this firmware, it is up to the user to be sure the ISO has been burned correctly, to avoid being banned.

Discs: Verbatim is the recommended brand of choice. If you can't get those, I'd recommend Taiyo-Yuden. Yes, your Memorex could very well be the problem. Memorex all too often encounter CAD issues when burning 360 games. (CAD = Cheap Ass Disc). Use a good disc and once you know what you're doing, you can try CADs if you like.

NHL 09 is a 2nd wave game so the old firmware is more than likely your issue. Get it upgraded.
