So I'm on my second 360, I bought the first one to repair and it turned about being more than I could handle.
So I went and bought a working one, and this one gets to my house, and guess what...It's broken too.
It's a Halo 3 Edition.

It keeps giving me an unreadable disc error, every time I try to play a game. I can't play anything, it starts to load UFC Undisputed, but then it stops (It freezes on the Xbox 360 screen). But whenever I put COD4 (A brand new copy) in, it says the disc is unreadable.
I need some recommendations, please.

It's also a Hitachi DVD drive, any help is greatly appreciated!

Hitachis are notorious for disc read errors. The first thing you can try is cleaning the laser with iso alcohol and doing a potentiometer ("pot") calibration using a multimeter to decrease resistance and thus increase power to the laser. Failing that you'll have to get a replacement drive or laser. I believe the hitachis are simple enough to replace that you can just swap the PCB between the old one and new one without any soldering required...if not, use jungleflasher to get the old key and put it on the new one

Alright, I'm sorta a noob to the Xbox 360 repair ring.
Can you explain the process of "Potting" my 360?
Also can you link me to a successful tut, on replacing the PCB?

I understand jungleflasher pretty well, I'm just iffy on using it, after several Xbox's I've heard receiving bad flashes.

Btw, thank you very much for the suggestion!
I really need all the help I can get on this.

You can buy a replacement laser for like $6 on ebay easy to replace. If possible though I would return the console you don't want a Xenon or Zypher board you'll likely end up with a red ring console soon enough. Get a Jasper I've bought several arcade models for like $100 on Ebay. I've repaired close to 300 consoles and not a single Jasper with red rings that's the way to go save money and headaches down the line.

I saw you can take an envelope to it and it'll fix it.. Search it on youtube, you'll find it. Hope it helps.
