I am very new at flashing xbox's and would like to get into it for my own purposes.

I was wondering if there some kind of guide out there I can use to educate myself? I'm not sure at this point how to connect the 360 dvd drive to my pc. I have seen the SATA connection but the power connection confuses me.

I would also like to know if a SATA to USB connection will work with connection the drive.

The second question I have is this? My Xbox is currently banned from Live and frankly I dont care. Can I simply swap out my Hitachi drive with another manufacturer and still be able to play games?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

to power the dvd drive while you have it plugged into the PC is a simple fix: leave the power plugged into the 360, and boot the 360!
