Andy Rubin, VP of Engineering at Google and head of the Android project has revealed an updated version of Google Maps this week, version 5. GM5 will be released "in a matter of days," and most Android users should be able to download it, free, at that point. Hey Mr Rubin,

Can we have this extended to google navigation as well please.

Also with the introduction of offline caching that means all you need to do is add me speed, cough safety cameras (or just a users poi layer with warnings is fine) and your there and i can stop using all the bad and out of date maps everyone else provides and use your nice always correct maps that dont get me lost 3 times a week.

Thanks Mr. Y for the article. Very cool stuff, hope 2.1 does get it as that is what my Vibrant is still stuck on. Google maps is free and I am very thankful they constantly keep it up to date.
