I'm wondering which style is better? I have a 2.5yr old 60gig fat but now it freezes up all the time and has had the RROD come on twice about 6 months ago. Now it just does the freezing thing a lot. I'm sending it back to have fixed but I saw the new slim and am thinking maybe these might work better? My xbox runs about 10hrs plus a day with an inter cooler now and between the 5 people that use it it never sits a day so I guess I cant knock that.
I noticed the slim is only 4gigs is that enough? I have a whole wall of games to many to count so I'm worried about space. Also do the slims have any issues that there known for like the RROD or something? My last question is are they hackable ether with firmware or mod chip? I have young kids that seem to scratch a game beyond usability within days is why I ask.
I plan on modding the old one when it comes back even though I bought the 3yr extended warranty when I got it at Walmart but still like to be an informed buyer If I do decide to get a new one. Thanks

Slims are much less likely to RRoD than the fat but it has happened. There is no mod yet for the slim but it is in the works. 4gigs isnt much space (or any) for installing games to the harddrive but more than enough for your saves. You might want to considering ditching the intercooler since it's not helping and I've heard some people have major issues with them, especially if they're powered by the 360 and not a separate adapter/cord

If I don't use the inter cooler the case gets so hot you cant touch it. It did that from day 1 though. Can a hard drive be installed in the slim and I have several games I bought from xbox live and am wondering if they can be transfered to the slim? My guess is no which is a bummer because they take 35 gigs of my old hard drive. Thanks for the video I'm going to watch that now.

Yes, you can get a 250GB Hard Drive for the slim on ebay for around $50 - $60 shipped in the US. You can use the gamertag that you used to download the games from live and download them again to the new 250GB Hard Drive. w00ly's video is awesome and has been quite useful for a lot of people here on AD.

or you can just disassemble your current hard drive and use that in the slim just fine. but if your console is getting that hot, then something is extremely wrong. i can leave my fat 360 on for a week straight and it will not get that hot at all.

granted some systems do get very hot, but are you standing it upright? If so that blocks the main air intake on the system and even with the intercooler can keep it from sufficiently cooling

Glad you guys have found my video useful though :) If your system is under warranty it's better to just send it to microsoft instead of fixing it yourself though

I have it laying on the side so that the dvd drive is horizontal and nothing is around it on any sides. It heated like that from day one and only took about 15 minutes. I got the inter cooler on day 2 and it still gets a bit warm. I wonder if the original fan works. Hopefully Microsoft will check that.

turn it on and look through the back and see if it spins...not that hard to do.

It doesn't spin. I haven't sent it in yet and if I shake the console I can here what sounds like a plug hooked to a wire shaking around in there. I wonder if this will cause a warranty issue? I don't think the fan was ever hooked up but I'm not sure. I do have to give it an aggressive shake to here it. If Microsoft finds out I was using an inter cooler will that void my warranty to?

The only way to void your warranty is to open the console which will remove a sticker.

please if your asking about xbox 360 firmware, LT+, how to cut and solder, what drive you have and such check this PDF file
