Regular USB flash drives are storage only. They do not have the required hardware on them for code to run by itself on a PS3.

but if i get a flashed USB and want to upgrade to a higher CFW version e.g 3.5 do i just copy the files to a USB or do i have to get a new one with the 3.5 CFW on it
