Hey guys, recently tried to flash my Hitachi 78 using JF 1.77Beta. Everything seemed to go in order, followed the JF tutorial on Hitachi, I got it into mode B, it read the firmware, and I saved it, it auto loaded the ixtreme firmware, and wrote to the drive... however whenever I put in a back up game, it shows open tray... original games work fine...
any idea's?
Thanks!

Yep, you need to do the POT calibration trick (google it). It has happened with about half of the hitachi's Ive flashed. Never had to do it on any other type of drives.

I had to do it with my hitachi 47. Not too hard to do, not as complicated as it may seem. However, if you do not have a multimeter I would also consider updating the drive. I bought my benq drive on ebay for $16 with shipping. A decent multimeter will cost around $30.

I did my first couple without a multimeter but I would not recommend it as you may turn down the resistance too much and burn out your laser.

Thanks for the help guys!! I've done some more testing, and turns out the flash was good!! The drive plays SOME of my backups... I would say about 50%.
I've read up on doing the pot tweak from before, and was hoping that I would never have to do it.... but I guess thats Hitachi for ya.
I'll check into it more, and keep you guys updated... if you have a tut for doing it, or reference numbers for hitachi drives, that too would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks mike! Great tut.. I saved the pdf. This drive is in a jtag console that I'm working on right now... I just don't have the time to keep going at it with the kids & the season... I've got xbr on there, now just trying to set up the hard drive.. Jpizzle left me some great links, but I need more time to go through the info and start working on it.. but thanks for the info!!!
