why doesn't it work with your router? does it connect to it? or not, if not what type of security does you use?WEP?WPA?WPA2?

Could be due to your NAT/NO NAT setup. You could try to forward all the ports to your xbox's local IP, go to portforward.com for instructions.

It will be a setting in the router config screen.
Are you sure that your router is giving you an IP address to your xbox? When you go in to the console setting screen in the network section what IP does it say? Have you set the IP address static in your xbox settings or is it dynamic?

Sounds like your router may be dying as your not getting DHCP. Do you have another one you could try? Try a factory reset on the router (pin in the reset hole in the back for 20 seconds) before replacing your router.
Hope this helps.

It's possible that it's on the xbox side. On your network configuration on your xbox, check the network you connect to (d2, d4, or whatever your network SSID is, and then choose the additional settings tab. Make sure that PPPoE is turned off. Choose restore to factory defaults. Hopefully, that gets you going.
