My xbox 360 is moded to play up to wave 3 backup games (i don't know what firmware) and when i patch wave six games to wave 3 a message pops up on game startup saying i need to apply an update to console to be able to play the game. So i select update and it seems like its loadng update, it finishes and restarts just as it should but then the same message pops up again saying the same thing as if it didn't apply the update. Does anyone know whats goin on, i only want to play 1 player game i don't want to go on live. How do i get it to update and be able to play the game? I tried streetfighter 4, Alan wake, halo reach red dead redemption and they all do the same thing, won't update, won't let me play. Any suggestions would be much apreciated.
The updates are not working because you are changing the wave of the game. In order for the update to work, the game must remain at it's original wave, so you would need to flash your drive with a more modern firmware in order to boot wave 6 games and apply the updates. Your other option is to update the console using a usb flash drive, that will get your dash updated and you should be able to play the game.
Thanks alot snickle i'll try updating the console using the usb drive by the way whats the difference between the tow methods, what are the benefits of reflashing the drive instead of using the usb flash drive? Is there any drawbacks of using the usb flash drive and updating the dashboard?
depends what update it is and what you ure updating from. You shouldn't have any probs playing your backups but may loose avi playback compatibility if you still have that on your console.
