okay here it is.... i currently use tmpgenc to encode my video's... but it take damn near 3 hours for half the movie, 6 in total. After i got cable modem, I don't have that kinda time. Does anyone know of a good quality program that will encode a little faster? or any suggestions on this... Further.. i have come across some files that arn't accepted by tmpgenc, when i get one i just delete it and get a new one. just looking for an explanation so i can help anyone i come across with the same Q... lemme know what u think

Hey

Im sure there is a 'faster' program if you want the Video to be really crap quality and barely watchable.

My suggestion is just stick with TMPEGEnc.

MainconceptMPEGencoder will do it bout half the time of TMPGEnc and not to bad quality either, but as cozza said for best quality results TMPGEnc is the 1.

i think cce is slightly faster.

use motion estimate, instead of high quality.

CCE can do VCD, but TMPGEnc or MainConcept will give you better results. It's the best for MPEG-2, but not so good for MPEG-1. I'd also say CCE is more than slightly faster than TMPGEnc. In my experience it's about 1.5x to 2x as fast.

For Mpeg2 encodeing CCE SP can not be Beat in Quality and in Speed (It takes me about 55 minutes for a 2 hour Movie to Mpeg2/DVD) but it"s Mpeg1 encodeing isn"t very good quality but it is still fast...
The MainConcept Encoder can Produce simular Quality as TMPGEnc can in 1/3 the time But you have to set it up Properly to get the Best results .....
