No, here in Australia we use PAL. I'm sorry this will not work.

No. A US Xbox will not work in Australia because it has trouble reading games when it is upside-down.

No, the games read just fine upside-down. It cools the Xbox better too.

the box will work fine, just make sure you have a tv that can read its output signal (ntsc, pal, etc.). I must admit I never really researched this subject much, but HDTV is a different format altogether (neither NTSC nor PAL-- it has its own refresh rate standards, etc.), and I see no reason why it wouldn't work with any xbox (if you have one). Although they may have some artificial limitations that prevent compatibility (reminiscent of region codes in DVD's). Most 360 games I've seen, according to agbx360, are region-free, so aussie games should work in your us console. but I'd research the subject more to make sure, though. At least that will give you some good search terms to help you :)

Partially correct.

Forgetting the gravity issues that have been raised here you may have some games Region free, but mostwill be locked to the specific region you live it.

The short answer is YES.

I'm an Aussie living in the US and now have both a US and Australian Xbox. I had a number of issues with bringing my PAL console to the US... It won't be as hard going the other way around.

Here are the things you'll want to consider -

1) Power Supply - Australia uses 240V while the US uses 110V, so you're likely to blow the power brick without a step-down converter.

2) Region - Many (not all) games are locked to a specific region. In fact, there are only 3 regions US-NTSC, EUROPE-PAL (Australia falls into this category because of the PAL format - see below) & JAPAN-NTSC. In my experience I've had most problems with US games not working on PAL consoles. Games like NCAA Football and MLB 2K10 were only released in the US so won't work on anything but a US console. The same doesn't hold true for Cricket and Rugby games. Check out this link to get a feel for what games you'll be restricted to playing - http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-xbox360_compatibility_guide-49-en.html

3) PAL/NTSC - Not an issue in Australia (or most places in the world). 99% of TV's ever sold in Australia can handle both NTSC & PAL. The same is not true for the US where most TV's were sold as NTSC only.

So in summary, yes it will work but expect to factor in a step-down power supply or buy a new power brick. Do the math, consider the warranty issues and check the availability of games that you want to play.

Cheers,
Ngentot! :)

That's good info Ngentot, but I still say it's hard to read games upside-down :)
