After getting all the gear, I bought a new lite on drive to flash. I already had my key in a dummy.bin file so used that as my initial firmware and downloaded lt+ v1.1 as the new. after a few teething problems I installed the firmware and installed the drive.
now gameplay is eratic, it took ages to play nfs and many of my old working backups came up as "scratched disc", turning the xbox on its side helps. Obviously there is a bad laser alignment, but this is a new drive, can i adjust the laser ? or has it just been damaged in transit and ill have to buy another one?
the working drive i took out was a spoofed samsung so i cant use that for lt+ firmware :o(
You can calibrate the POT - google xbox 360 pot calibration. But if playing on it's side works better, you may have a failing motor or something mechanical... I believe there is no such thing as a new xbox 360 drive except for ones you get out of a brand new system. I'd try the POT Cal though - just be careful you don't completely burn out the lens!
