Hi, i have googled for hours but can't find my answers.. i have 2 500gb WD passport usb drives... i did find out that 1 of them can not be used to replace the internal ps3 hard drive.. the other 1 that i can't seem to find out much information on is.. i do know that some passort drives can be opened to fit into the ps3... just hoping this 1 would fit...

It isn't hard to open those drives up; you don't even need tools. Once it is open, it is very easy to see if it will work just by looking at it (if you still can't tell, post the model number of the disk itself; it is on the sticker that you will see once the drive is open). I know that the case for that drive model works with other replacement drives, so there is a good chance that the drive is not messed with too bad. I would still clear it would with diskpart before using it tho...

Sorry buddy...that is an external-only drive...you can't even connect it to SATA to recover data if you needed to (a professional probably could with some soldering).
