Hi everyone. So I recently purchased a new CECHE01 60GB version motherboard to replace mine which was causing the YLOD. I got tired of having to take the PS3 apart each time, every month or so, to resettle the CPU and GPU with a heat gun. The seller didn't give me the drive board (which from what I saw, I thought everyone sold them together) and he's not letting me return it (he knew about the issue). He also has the drive no longer but he's assuring me though that he was able to get it working before by overriding the firmware in the EEPROM of the drive board using some program apparently... To be honest I don't think he's lying but who knows; I'm wondering if anyone knows how to do this. I'm thinking the point of this is to put it in some default state in which it'd initially pair itself with whichever motherboard of the same type. Is it possible or regardless of what's done to the firmware it changes nothing? I'm actually getting to the point of extreme desperation of finding a solution for this.. Thank you guys, sincerely. I of course appreciate anyone's time.

PS- I've also heard of some method of replacing the BGA chip that contains the firmware (which I don't have) but I don't get it since I don't see how that differs from just swapping the drive board entirely. Wouldn't that chip contain information linking it to a different motherboard as well so therefore the issue would remain?

Thanks again,
David
