I find it unbelievable that all Android powered devices, especially ones as publicized and as powerful as this, weren't released with 2.2 at the start, let alone never getting updated to it. Very unacceptable

Yeah I used to complain about updates too. Then realized the update didn't really change much about the phone.
I think 1 reason for the delay, constant delays shall we say, is the amount of platforms the updates need to cover.
The Android OS covers lord knows how many phones, and most major carriers. So not only is the blame on Android, but also the manufactors, and carriers.
Hence why iphone updates seem to happen more rapidly. Theres only 3 (I may be mistaken there) iphones. iphone 3g, iphone 3gs, and iphone 4. And only 1 carrier, ATT. Plus I think apple stays a little more tight lipped about their updates.
When I get a phone I get it "as is" making it "acceptable" If it gets an update great. If not, it still does everything I expected it to do when I bought it. If I want bigger better faster, I get a new phone.
Just my cheap 2 cents
