I have recently upgraded to ms windows media player 9, and now I find I can't locate streaming video URLS the way I used to. Previously, I could watch a vid on a webpage, and then look in my "Internet Temporary Files" cache to locate the .ASP file with the streaming URL. But with WMP9 these files are not there. Does anyone know how to locate the? Or are there any other solutions, like re-enabling the right mouse button on a webpage where it has been disabled. This would let me discover the URL. I have been having problems using URL snooper and WinPCAP, so this is not the answer.

I could go back to media player version 8, but I'd like to know if there are any better wasys of getting hold of the URLs.

There are many different ways. To many to go into here.

Are you using the newest versions of Project URL Snooper and WinPcap.

Any way you will get better information at the site below. Be sure to read the FAQ's. Post a message there if you have a certain site that you are having problems with and we can help you out.

Thanks for the prompt reply Veblin. I am using the most recent URL Snooper and WinPCAP that I could find, but my problem with it is to do with trying to install the "network monitor" protocol. I have installed it, but the tick next to it is greyed out. This is with XP.

I have just looked at the FAQs in the link, and the javascript for viewing link source looks like it could be useful.

One site in particular that I could use with WMP8 but not 9 is this one: "www.singi ngfool.com". It used to leave ASP index files in the Temporary Internet Files cache from "vid eo.videodet ective.com" This site carries a lot of music videos, including some old ones that I haven't seen anywhere else. The spaces in the URLs are deliberate mistakes.

That should open a full sized player with tool bars and status bar. If you go to the site some other way and open the player it will be a smaller disabled window. Press Ctrl+N to open a NEW full sized player window.

Add a song to the playlist.
Example: I DON'T WANT TO MISS A THING (1998) by Aerosmith

Point to the link in the playlist.
You will see a URL on the status bar.
http://www.singingfool.com/playlist.asp?PublishedIdList=99464,&CurrentPublishedID=99464&PlayListID=#

Take that number 99464.
Put it at the end of this view-source:redirector URL and paste it into the Internet Explorer address bar.

Press Enter.
A Notepad window will open showing the source code of that redirector.
