how does one burn from the shrink files

The linkage between DVD Shrink and Nero has been broken since Nero7 -ish.
Use Imgburn to burn from Shrink.

Install ImgBurn - uncheck the option to install toolbar.

Run portable 'DVD Shrink with ImgBurn' version and load project:

Edit > Preferences > File I/O, uncheck 'Enable burning with Nero'.

'Backup', select 'ISO Image File and burn with ImgBurn'.
