They haven't gotten games working off an external yet with 3.55.
The current method with 3.55 is installing a pkg file that loads the game off the internal HDD. If you don't want to FTP you can try transferring it through USB.
But for now they DO NOT have a method for playing off an external.

I agree that FTP is a pain, but for me it's the lesser of the problems. Actually getting the games to work after I transfer them over is my issue, lol.

Well, I was able to get Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood to work. I transferred the files (which was in the Title ID BLES00909) to a USB Stick, and using Comgenie's Awesome File Manager, was able to transfer it to the dev_hdd0/game/BLES00909. Then installed the pkg file for it, and the game worked.
Now just need to figure out how to get it working with the latest update. Because it's asking me for 2.02, and if I do that, it will make the patch no longer work.

So where do you get the necessary package files?

Like I said earlier, I got AC: Brotherhood working, but only offline, because it asks to update to 2.02, but that will disable the pkg if you update the game.
