Samsung has confirmed a Galaxy S successor is in the works, with a formal launch coming during the Mobile World Congress next month.
Via a promotional ad, Samsung has teased that on February 13th they will unveil the "evolution" of the Galaxy S line.
It is unclear what the name of the new device will be, but following the recent trend, the Galaxy S 4G seems likely.

The way Samsung has handled their updates for the current Galixy S dedice, I don't know why anybody would think for a second of buying anything new from them. Screw that. Who ever buys this new phone, regardless of it's current specs, is a fool.
Let's see if they disappoint just like they did with the Nexus S. That phone should have been a lot better (it should have been slimmer, dual core, sd-slot, and get rid of that cheap back cover plastic). But they (and carriers) really need to fix this late update crap.
I do like that they integrate enough of their own internal NAND memory, which is faster than SD-cards, but they should also raise the resolution on their AMOLEDS. I hope that "dual-core Hummingbird processor" is actually Orion and not just some quick rehash of like the over-clocked Hummingbird we've seen at CES 2011. I?m sure Orion should offer better performance than Tegra 2. I wonder what's taking Qualcomm so long too. Even Tegra 3 is supposed to be out early this year, and will be shown at this MWC coming up.
I bought a Sprint-version Galaxy-S (The "Epic") and returned it within 5 hours (paying a $35 penalty) for an HTC Evo. Samsung phones are terrible; try Googling "Samsung Epic (problems OR issues)".
My wife has a Samsung Moment and curses it every day. The phone is unforgivably slow (press "Back" and you have to wait a second or 2 for it to "notice"), plus ALL Samsung phones have extremely bad GPS performance. I mean, so bad, that within a block of your destination it'll say: "Make a legal U-turn..." and then try to reroute you 5 miles out of your way to come back where you already are. If I whip out my Evo, however, it works fine, so it's NOT% the SPrint Navigation app causing the problem.
When you include inexcusably tardy Android updates, the conclusion is clear: Samsung makes lousy phones.

Though I'm a pretty big fan of Samsung phones, I am not nearly as much as I was a year ago. This because of the massive output they've done.
Anyway, it's common knowledge that Samsung phones on Sprint and Verizon are subpar. Samsung excels at GSM phones which is a more advanced technology anyway. Sprint has its own cool phones and so does Verizon. Anyone that buys a Samsung Epic or Moment is a goof and should be re-edumacated.
Samsung are NOT lousy. I have owned them for years......no issues what-so-ever. People just need to do their research which clearly didn't happen for those buying the Moment.
Not really. I agree, I didn't do enough research, but nearlyevery review I read of both phones at the time (my wife bought the Moment 2 months before I got the Epic, cuz she was impatient)was all a-splooge over 'em.
