Copy of what? I haven't downloaded anything from anywhere. I will only take the steps of the guide, when I'll have understood it completely.
Originally posted by goyankees: Originally posted by zafos: Originally posted by KillerBug: The guide would be changing so frequently that it would be useless. Here are some good instructions for the latest generation of hack:
http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/01/tutorial-how-to-play-backups-with-kmeaw-cfwpsn-without-risk-of-brick/#axzz1BZlq1Y4Y
Somewhat more detailed guide, with some exceptions:
1)How do I copy the files into the ps3 flash drive?
Is this what your still asking about? Or is it something else?
Yes. In specific, these are my questions:
1)How do I copy the files into the ps3 flash drive?
2)What does "boot from XMB" mean, exactly?
3)What do I do after I finish what that guide says, in order to actually play a game?
4)My blu ray drive is opened. Whenever I want to change a game, I have to shut the ps3 down, do it manually and boot it(eject can't work, wires connecting the drive to the sensor are torn and now I always keep the ps3 partially disassembled). Is it still possible for me to hack my ps3 with this guide?
2) has been answered. Also, some of 3).
Now I need rest of 3), 1) and 4).
These are all questions referring to the guide KillerBug gave a link to, in this thread(2nd post).
I promise you if you google those exact things youll find it quickly.
As for the flash. You install whichever .pkg file on the root and then stick it in your ps3, open the folder Install Packages in your ps3 and youll see the files. There you can install them..

I'll tell you much l8er how that went. The guide I'm requesting, however, would eliminate the need to google it.
1st u'd have to find what exactly to google, which is hard when you don't know anything. Then u'd have to filter information, compare sources, etc.
If there was a guide, some hours of googling and this whole discussion would be things I wouldn't have to do. Things that took days. Now, instead of every newb spending days on sth like this, 1 person spending days to right a proper guide and keep it updated seems like less days spent to me.
And after all this, I finally found a friend who did it and will tell me how to. I didn't even achieve finding it myself.
Apparently, it's very simple, which makes my request for a guide even more logical. The information on the net must be wrongly organized(for such a simple process to elude me so).

I guess this answers 1). Only part of 3) and 4) left.

Hey, I'm only stating what I believe the truth to be. I've been googling and I have found lots of guides. That's the main problem.
That's y I come here requesting for a guide that sums it all up and leaves no stone unturned, cause I know these forums are awesome. I don't want pampering, just a guide. I do believe all the information I need is already on the net. It's just too chaotic. Yes, everything is changing daily on this subject, but this just makes it hard, not impossible.
I really don't want to sound ungrateful for all the great help I received from this thread and the many guides and information I found by googling(totally irrelevant: did u know that 1 single cell organism can be used to store 100GB of data? I actually am not sure, but it may be the case if that guy on that forum was right!).
I just don't want to pretend that it is enough. Nor that gathering information about this is as easy as it should and could be.
I don't really care for making this easier for me. I like all this talk and googling I do. If I didn't, I wouldn't have posted this message, or delve into the guide I was getting a link to at the 2nd post! I would just try to do what that or some other guide said and fill in the blanks on the way. There is little doubt I would succeed.
I just believe that a proper guide by this site would be a huge step forward. And isn't progress the name of the game these days?

How is piracy on my part assumed in this case exactly? I never understood that.
In fact, I haven't even downloaded anything yet! Not even cfw, backup manager, nothing! Y are u assuming I want to download free games and not back up my originals?
I haven't said anything about what I want to do with my ps3, after I do the guide. I've just asked some questions about the guide.

Why would you download a game you already own? If you own the game then you would do a backup copy from a bm, not download it from the internet. No piracy in here please.

I never stated I wanted to download a game, that's precisely y I asked:
Quote: Y are u assuming I want to download free games and not back up my originals?
Show me a quote where I say I want to download games!
EDIT: Killerbug said I've downloaded an illegal copy from a warez site and that's y I'm having trouble. I already said I haven't downloaded anythin yet, because I wanted to make sure of what to do before I did anything. And even now that my friend can tell me what to do, I don't have time, so I still haven't downloaded anything. Furthermore, I don't even understand what an illegal copy of he is referring to. Game? Software(are there official software copies on sale? The guide he linked only says download for everything, except the game)? Y would I have trouble because of that?
EDIT2: Besides, the main point of this thread is for the need of a proper guide to be stressed. Not helping me. In fact, most of the conversation I had here was as an example of y it is needed and because I like analyzing and talking about stuff like this. I could go and hack my ps3 right now, but I'm still posting.

I think killerbug's comment was directed at AnimusLo (Newbie) because his comment was right above his. I don't recall zafos saying anything wrong unless something was edited.

EDIT: Just couldn't resist the fun of pointing out how I always label my edits with such a label XD
Thank you! For posting before in this thread and helping as well.
Since I'm thanking, I'd also like to thank goyankees and KillerBug for helping, too.
In addition, every1 else who posted here, requesting for help. Your posts stress the need of a guide.
Incidentally, let me repost Weasrock's question, which still hasn't been answered, I think:Originally posted by Weasrock: so after I install this and say for instance when killzone 3 comes out, will we have to install a new FW everytime sony releases new games that require it?

Once C4 releases the FW, we won't need jailbreak devices. It's soon to come ;)

I was under the impression that c4eva was trying to make a firmware to flash over the DVD drive like he creates for the 360.

I believe not because who wants to burn blu-ray? I've read the firmware will let us play games from the HD with no disc in the drive. I think it is a flash for the drive but does more than read games.

Lol I was thinking the same thing when I first heard about rumors about it last year lol (I believe not because who wants to burn blu-ray?) well all we can do now is wait and hope for the best. Like a full wide screen browser and mkv playback.
