Hi, guys. Lots of reading today (and excitement!) as I should have my PS3 set up this weekend. I'm trying to decide on going with a new internal drive (max I've seen is 750 gig) or an external (2 TB Retail Plus is on sale for $100 at Future Shop in Canada). Seems internal is nice and easy, external is just bulky to manage. After searching the forums I can't come to a clear cut decision - might just be good to do both!
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help!

Internal is easier (after initial setup anyway), has better game compatibility, and the games load quicker. External is bigger; that is the only real advantage there. 750GB is a lot of games when many PS3 games are under 4GB, and you can get 1TB internals now.
If you need less than 1TB total space, then internal is better in spite of being slightly more expensive. If you have enough games that you need more than 1TB total space, you will need an external...but you will also need a good sized internal to do all of the game installs (you can keep the disk files on external, but the game still "Installs" to the internal). Unless you already have a 250GB or larger internal, an external over 1TB makes little sense.
...And if you want to go all out, get a nice 2TB external plus a 1TB internal, and stick all the games that you never play onto the external.

Changing the drive does not void the warranty...but jailbreaking does.

I'm not going to store alot of games because then I just lose focus on the games I really wanna finish. So ever since I just put a few games, finish them, delete them if im not gonna play again and then store another then finish and I repeat the process. No need for a 50 games all at once that's insanity!!!!

Yeah...50 games would be overkill...that's why I only have 49, oh, and that one I am loading in now. ;)

That's awesome! Totally right about the number of games and it makes sense. Thanks for the help, guys! Internal sounds like a decent way to go.

I think so - and really appreciate all the help. I'm apparently one of the lucky few who has a 3.50fw PS3 that can't be downgraded. Reading most of today about the Cmeaw stuff so just waiting a bit to see if it's safe. Seems ok so far, but worried about a brick. Any advice?

No brick here and im on Kmeaw 3.55, just follow this guide and your golden. Then get the file permission fix and lvl 2 to use b4 using rogero.
