I have a psp 1001 with firmware 6.37 installed on it. I do not have a spare battery or another hacked psp available. Is it still possible to get this thing running isos tonight? I have searched the forums but from what I understand I am too far up the firmware ladder to go back down. am i correct in this assumption?

Why would you update? The only way to downgrade and hack your psp now is to use a pandora battery and a magic memory stick. If you would have stayed on any lower firmware you could downgrade to a cfw for free. You can run signed homebrew like emulators though. Just google it.

If you were still on 6.35 you could downgrade for free, now all you can do is either sit and wait or buy a pandora battery (I recommend www.dealextreme.com for that). So far there is only a signed HEN you can run with your firmware, which allows you to run homebrew.

There isn't a hen for 6.37. There are signed homebrews and hbl for un-signed homebrews.
