Furthermore, Sony is asking developers to add their existing games to the PlayStation Network as digital downloads, so new owners can purchase them. If you purchased a game from the PlayStation ... [ read the full article ]

They really need to rethink their game plan here. No digital copies for UMD owners?

It will be hacked simply for that e.e

It looks really, really nice...I might even buy one once they are jailbroken, so long as sony is still loosing money on every one sold and trying to make it up with games.

I don't trust Sony... they said that you can redownload games free you bought from PSP lite or PSP 1000 series on the psp go then people found out that you can't because Sony doesn't allow it.

That's what I read when psp go first came out...

No, you're partially correct. The games you purchased in your PSN account are yours to keep. You can download the games in your PSN account as many times as you like. The PSP can be attached/activated to your PSN account. You can delete the games and reinstall them to your contend (game saves are in the memory folder, not affected by game deletion).

For the PSP Go, Sony had this ambitious plan, "converting" your PSP UMDs to digital version so that you don't have to purchase the same games again (a lot of people already have the PSP games on UMD). Of course, the program was too complex, i.e. how do you mail the UMDs and get a digital download voucher? How do Sony verify you own the UMD or not (not borrowed or anything)? How do you get the UMDs back after verification? Who pay shipping? And what if the PSP game is not available on digital format? Heck, how does any of that even work?

This is not what the PSP2 will go through... If you already bought the PSP games on PSN for the PSPs or Go, you can download the games to the PSP2 with ease (and no, you don't have to pay again). BUT if you have PSP games on UMD, you're out of luck.

I'd like the thing to play PS2 games in emulation too. But they should be really cheap ($10).

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.

*rolls eyes* how about a wifi based UDM reader for 100$ that lasts 4 hours on 2-4 AA's?

Copyright infringement is nothing more than civil disobedience to a bad set of laws. Lets renegotiate them.

Thats what the PSP could be, you could use it as a link PSP to PSP2 and transfer your games to Memory Cards. then connect to ps3 to authorize the games.

it will never happen though.

Ah, it only works if each game has some sort of serial#... I mean I can easily borrow the game from my friend after she transferred it. It's up for exploit for sure...

Peace!

how? it dose not rip the game(even then piracy is moot because it will be under used and all the PSP games have been riped already). You still need a game in the player and it connected to one PSP2 in order for it to work.

Okay, my mistake, I thought it was an one time thing. So, it's a plug-in-per-play thing then? Eh, still an ugly thing to have, lol. It's like a collection of old VHS tapes and they can only be streamed through this retro device as long as the tape is in there.

Peace!

I know I know but its a stop gap measure between buying digital and BWC, the hardware should pay for itself and be under 200/150$ I mean all in all it sounds reasonable.

Sony never should have tried their proprietary UMD BS and used flash from the start.....

0_o you could get 4GB for under 30$ for the average consumer they could easily get under 20 or use their own memstick design only not call it that and sell it to devs cheap, UMD was horrible and kept the system down.
